بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ حمٓ ۝١

Ha-Mim.

وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ۝٢

By the Book that makes things clear;-

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍۢ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ۝۳

We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil).

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ ۝٤

In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,

أَمْرًۭا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ ۝٥

By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations),

رَحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ۝٦

As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things);

رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ۝۷

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith.

لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ۝۸

There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.

بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّۢ يَلْعَبُونَ ۝۹

Yet they play about in doubt.

فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ ۝١۰

Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,

يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ ۝١١

Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.

رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ۝١٢

(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!"

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ ۝١۳

How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,-

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌۭ مَّجْنُونٌ ۝١٤

Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"

إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ ۝١٥

We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways).

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ ۝١٦

One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution!

۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ كَرِيمٌ ۝١۷

We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable,

أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌۭ ۝١۸

Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust;

وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ ۝١۹

"And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest.

وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ ۝٢۰

"For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.

وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ ۝٢١

"If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌۭ مُّجْرِمُونَ ۝٢٢

(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin."

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ۝٢۳

(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued.

وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌۭ مُّغْرَقُونَ ۝٢٤

"And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned."

كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ ۝٢٥

How many were the gardens and springs they left behind,

وَزُرُوعٍۢ وَمَقَامٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ ۝٢٦

And corn-fields and noble buildings,

وَنَعْمَةٍۢ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَٰكِهِينَ ۝٢۷

And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight!

كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ ۝٢۸

Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)!

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ ۝٢۹

And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again).

وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ ۝۳۰

We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,

مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ۝۳١

Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.

وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ۝۳٢

And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,

وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْءَايَٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَٰٓؤٌۭا۟ مُّبِينٌ ۝۳۳

And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial

إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ ۝۳٤

As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:

إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ ۝۳٥

"There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.

فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ ۝۳٦

"Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍۢ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ ۝۳۷

What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ ۝۳۸

We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport:

مَا خَلَقْنَٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۝۳۹

We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand.

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ۝٤۰

Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,-

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًۭى شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ۝٤١

The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive,

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ۝٤٢

Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ۝٤۳

Verily the tree of Zaqqum

طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ ۝٤٤

Will be the food of the Sinful,-

كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ ۝٤٥

Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides.

كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ۝٤٦

Like the boiling of scalding water.

خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ۝٤۷

(A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire!

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ۝٤۸

"Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water,

ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ ۝٤۹

"Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour!

إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ ۝٥۰

"Truly this is what ye used to doubt!"

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍۢ ۝٥١

As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security,

فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ ۝٥٢

Among Gardens and Springs;

يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍۢ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ ۝٥۳

Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other;

كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍۢ ۝٥٤

So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ ۝٥٥

There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security;

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ۝٥٦

Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,-

فَضْلًۭا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ۝٥۷

As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement!

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٥۸

Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed.

فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ ۝٥۹

So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.
